The completely successful normalisation of left handedness in my native culture with zero negative consequences is inspiring to me. It is a deepseated neurological feature! Which correlates with lots of important facts about a person! And was the focus of a long history of violent brain-damaging child abuse! And now is so completely unremarkable as to hardly even be interesting

Today’s youth (at least here) don’t remember it but the times when left-handed people were forced to use his right hand are not that far. My grandpa is forcibly-taught right-hander (as we call them here) and he’s 84. My dad who’s 52 would be forced right-hander if he was like 5 years older.

Like, it’s not sone überdistant future. Dexterity is doom. Sinister people gained freedom mere 50 years ago. And I’m pretty sure there are places where they’re still oppressed and forced right.

This isn’t a joke. This is 100% the truth. My grandma was beaten by teachers as a child for being lefty. She rebelled and is still a lefty today as point of pride.

my gran was left handed and got so abused for it that she still hates writing at the age of 78. She still writes with her right hand too, and complains that she could never learn to draw. Cruelty inflicted in the past is still hurting in the present.

My mother-in-law is lefthanded. When she was a girl, her teachers tied her left hand to her desk so she couldn’t use it and was forced to use her right hand.

Please add a custodian paid $12/hour cleaning the whole fucking office complex (who the boss doesn’t even give healthcare coverage to) for added accuracy

Let me stress once again that THIS is capitalism. Not “free markets”, not “advertising”, not “consumerism”. Those things predate capitalism by millennia.

Capitalism is about having a class that owns most of the capital (capitalists, in the classic definition, businessmen or investors in modern lingo), so they end owning the means of production (as in the tools and organizations needed to create value by doing any labor), so the people doing the labor yield to give them most of the product of their work in exchange of using those tools or being part of those organizations. So they end getting most of the profit from the people doing the work without actually doing anything themselves, just by owning the capital.

just a reminder that you do not know the names of most of the people in SAG-AFTRA. They are not multi-millionaire A-Listers, not even beloved D-listers with a cult following. They are ordinary people struggling to make a living, living paycheck to paycheck just like the majority of WGA members. The push for SAG to strike was from the bottom up and that is who we have to thank for this moment of entertainment labor solidarity.

Donate to the Entertainment Community Fund to support those striking, as well as teamsters and IATSE members affected by the strikes

"writers deserve attention more than actors" literally only 2% of actors can pay the bills with acting. For every megastar on screen there are a dozen other people in the shot who are SAG. Acting gets so glamorized but there are SO MANY people in SAG who NEED residuals to live on. Background Party Girl #4 needs her check too!!!! There are people who play recurring characters on syndicated shows who cant afford health insurance!!! Ke Huy Quan gave an oscar winning performance and LOST HIS HEALTH INSURANCE the next year.

Tweet from The Animation Guild @animation guild) that says: "We need your help! #Disney refuses to recognize #animation production workers in their effort to #unionize. Show your support and sign the petition at https://iatse.net/online-action/disney-production/ "ALT

don’t forget during the WGA strike that animation is not covered under the WGA deals and as a result animation has gotten the shortest possible end of the stick in under-staffing, under-paying, and generally turning the field into gig employment.

please sign the petition here for Disney to recognize animation production workers as a union and reblog this post!
